The mineralogy name of“Bi Xi”is Tourmaline.Because of its various colors,it is known as“the rainbow fallen into the mundane”.
Because of the different mineral elements, the color of the Tourmaline is bright, and there are many kinds of vagaries, and in most cases one crystal comes in a wide variety of colors.Although there are many Tourmaline gem deposits in the world, most of them are of average quality and comparatively small.Good Tourmaline specimens almost always used as the raw materials for making jewelry, where there are no requirements for the mineral’s material shape or integrity,as a result most Tourmaline crystal was mined directly without the matrix, and lack of the necessary packaging and protection during the transportation, which often cause serious damage.
It is extremely rare for a Tourmaline with complete crystal shape and luster to be mined with matrix, and such specimen would gain immediate recognition once appears in the market.Brazil,Madagascar,Sri Lanka and Afghanistan are the few countries that produce such high-level Tourmalines.
The Urals of Siberia produce high quality blue and red Tourmaline, compared with the big producer of gemstones such as Brazil,South Africa and Afghanistan,Tourmaline crystal specimens from this area are not common in the market,it’s a kind of mineral specimen that is exceptional.
The superior Rubellite of the Ural Mountains is known as the“Siberian Ruby”.This Rubellite is from this area, with the height of 19.5cm,the crystal is large and complete,in bright fuchsia color, the top of the specimen is translucent. The whole specimen has a rich color, and the crystal shape is grand.Specimens of this unconventional origin are very rare, they tend to be popular with collectors.
